Onward to South America!!!


South America is our current unit of study so starting today, all current events must be about South America. Remember, opportunities for extra credit are available dependent upon the quality and professionalism of your post. In order to earn an extra credit point, you must provide the following information when posting:

1. The title of the article

2. The name of the newspaper, magazine, internet site, etc.
where you found the article
3. Identify the country and continent where the current event
happened
4. Include a 2 or 3 sentence description of what the article was about

Here is an example of an appropriate post.

On Wednesday, August 11, a man robbed a Susquehanna Bank in Ephrata, Lancaster County. The robbery took place around 10:30 am and the robber was able to escape. According to police, the robber was described as a white male, wearing sunglasses, a hat, a white t-shirt and shorts.

    People say that a couple and their two girls where killed ,they were killed by the heavy flooding. It brought death to at least 35 people. More than 30,000people across the country have been forced out of their homes. Thursday a family died when their house collapsed because a mudslide triggered by a downpours. The girls were 4 and 9 yrs. old. Thursday 16 people either drowned or were buried in mudslides, More than 13,000 were forced to seek shelter.

    Pictures of the Lagoon Nebula have been realeased from the Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA)from Chile. They are hoping these new pictures will give them informtion about our history and the devolopment of our galaxy. The new pictures show the Lagoon Nebula about 4-5000 light years away from earth.

    People in Brazil say that after a mudslide 4 people from the same family died. A total of 35 people died and 30,000 are homeless. The heavy flooding occurred in Sao Paulo state.

    Brazil Ringo, a Brazilian dog should have problems with movement from early in life because he has the defect that causes a illness called muscular dystrophy.
    Instead, at the age of seven, he can still walk, jump and run like a youngster. With laboratory tests showing his performance, he is showed as a healthy dog.If the muscular problems in Ringo's body had taken its normal path, it is unlikely that he would even be alive today.

  6. Fued over former Venezuelan president`s body ends

    In Venezuela President Carlos Andres Perez agreed to honor his wifes wishes and allow his body to be buried in his homeland. Perez`s longtime partner Cecilia Matos, and the couples two adult daughters had planned to bury him in South Florida after a mass on Wednsday. But for wife Blanca Rodriguez De Perez she managed to convince the court judge to issue an order to stopping it.
